Because I have 7 windows to cover at the Hidden Star Retreat, I decided to try the Drop Cloth Curtains approach. Yes, that’s the secret ingredient. For less than $20 per window…and you can do it, too.
I bought multiple 4 by 12 ft. drop cloths. I washed and dried them to make them soft. I cut the length I needed. I hemmed the bottom. I used the excess (my ceilings are not 12 feet tall) and sewed loops on back of the top hem to make back tabs. I ironed them. We hung them!
Done. Really, that easy! Drop Cloth Curtains….amazing!
I have met the quilt police head on. My dduathger was told by the judges at the county 4-h fair that it was unacceptable to sew a binding on by machine. Not that it did not look even, smooth, full , etc. just that the way to do it is by hand. She told them to fly up a rope, That her quilts were made to be used and that machine stiched was the way to go for her. Her quilt did not go to the state fair that year because of the binding. But her photo was in the paper telling them to stuff it. :^) I have not had the oppurtunity to see these modern rules . But doubt if I will follow them.
I love machine stitched bindings!
